Triocon Consulting Engineers have been involved with Eskom Koeberg Nuclear Power Station from as far back as 1994. We were appointed as consulting Engineers for various electrical, electronic and mechanical type projects.

In order to maintain a reliable and sustainable supply for the demand of oxygen at the Sasol, Secunda factory, additional so-called Oxygen Trains were constructed. LBE was involved in the construction of both train 15 and 16. This involvement included detail engineering, construction drawings and site assistance.

ILISO Consulting was the lead partner in a joint venture for bulk earthworks design. The project included pile design, the structural design of concrete bowl and light weight roof structure, contract administration and construction monitoring.

Triocon Consulting Engineers was appointed as Foschini’s lead electrical, mechanical and electronic design engineers. The project entailed expanding Foschini’s call centre capacity by developing a prestigious 2 level call centre space consisting of an open plan office space and canteen area of approximately 10 000m2 on top of the existing Parow Shopping Mall.

Triocon was responsible for all aspects of the project from client brief, design and tender stage all the way through to final test and commissioning and handing over of all systems.

Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) Power Stations were built in Atlantis and Mosselbay to meet peak electricity demands. Ankerlig Power Station has a capacity of 1332MW and Gourikwa 740MW.

A second propylene plant was built at Sasol, Secunda. The plant was part of Project Turbo in which Sasol upgraded and built new capacity to meet South African government targets for introducing lead-free petrol and low-sulphur diesel. Sasol awarded the contract to design and build the 300 000 tpa polypropylene plant to Technip, a France based company.

LBE was responsible for detail engineering, construction drawings and site assistance on the project.

The project along the N1 South was to create a landmark head office for First National Bank & Wesbank. This project consisted of a concrete frame structure with long-span, odd-shaped, pre-stressed flat slabs and structural steel feature facades. The project was fast-tracked and had a short completion period for its size. The building is unique in shape with numerous changes in angles, curves and volume changes, and specific attention was paid to green building concepts.
